Welcome back to another exciting school year! My name is Veronica Schmidt, and I am a Homer Community School alumni. I attended Wayne State College where I earned my Elementary Education Degree. In May 2019, I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through WSC as well. I am currently taking classes to obtain my School Counseling Degree at Chadron State University. Before coming to Homer, I taught at Wakefield Community School as the 4th – 6th grade writing teacher for four years. This will be my seventh year here in this district. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 24 years. We have two amazing children – Brent and Brooklynn. Brent is attending Wayne State College for Business Marketing Information Technology. He currently works at the Wakefield Community School and helps coach football and basketball. This past May, Brookynn received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and is not getting a Master's Degree for Applied Behavior Analysis. I am both anxious and excited to see what both of their futures hold! When time allows, I love going on walks with Baylee (dog), reading, and simply hanging out with friends and family. Although I have loved my time in the classroom, I am thrilled to transition from that role to the K - 5 school counselor position this year. I am ready to embrace this passion of mine and look forward to supporting our Homer families this year!
